Category

Represents a category associated with an article.

This field typically indicates the section in which the article is published (e.g., sport, hobby).
Providing categories is optional, because article topic detection is always performed automatically during analysis.
However, when available, category data can further improve result quality.
See our guide for more details and examples.

A Category object can also be used to provide information about entities known to be mentioned in the article.
In this case:

  • taxonomy specifies the type of entity (e.g., entity_person, entity_organization, entity_location, entity_product, entity_event, etc.).
  • code contains the textual representation of the entity (e.g., Paris).
